General Resources
All of our rooms have a QR code posted near the front of the room. You can scan the QR code to go to a page that lists the room’s A/V equipment and tutorials. You can also view this information by clicking on a room in the Room Matrix.
If you experience troubles with a room’s A/V during your course or event, please call our office at 206-543-6729 for the fastest response time. For any general questions regarding A/V, please email us at crshelp@uw.edu.
The Health Sciences Building, Health Sciences Education Building, Foege Genome Building, and South Campus Center are secured 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You must scan your Husky Card or UW-issued access badge to enter. For more information, visit Health Sciences Building Management.
Most of our rooms are unlocked, but there are a few exceptions. The “Notes” column on the Room Matrix will tell you which rooms are kept locked or are on the Campus Automated Access Management System (CAAMS).
For rooms that are kept locked, visit Health Sciences Building Management to request a key checkout.
For rooms on CAAMS, you must scan your Husky Card in order to enter. If it is your first time trying to enter a door or you haven’t visited in several months, the badge readers tend to deny people the first time they use them. Waiting about 10 seconds before a second badging attempt usually fixes the issue. Trying to badge in too quickly after the first try will cause badge-ins to be denied until this short interval has passed, but the reader should work normally from that point on.
The “Notes” column on the Room Matrix will tell you if a room requires a podium key to use the wireless microphones. You must check out a podium key if you want to use the wireless microphones for your course or event.
Please visit our office in T291A for key checkout and return. We are open Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Podium keys are checked out on an individual basis; you may not share your key with others. Podiums must be kept closed and locked whenever not in use. Repeated failures to close and lock podiums after use may result in a ban on future podium key reservations. If a podium is left unlocked and equipment is lost or stolen as a direct result, you or your department may be charged a replacement fee equal to the cost of the missing equipment. If your podium key is lost or not returned within two months after the end of the quarter, you or your department/organization may be charged a replacement fee of $50 per key.
Visit HS Building Management for more information and a map of lactation, wellness, and restroom spaces on campus.
Student Resources
If you have a disability that impacts your access to education or other aspects of university life, you can reach out to Disability Resources for Students (DRS) to request accommodations. DRS accommodates emergent and temporary conditions as well as permanent disabilities.
Classroom Services has a number of assisted listening devices (ALD) available for student use. These can be checked out from our office at any time. The ALD will connect directly to the equipment already in our classrooms and act as a speaker in the student’s ear so they can better hear the instructor during class meetings.
Additionally, our classrooms and lecture halls contain accessible desks and chairs. If additional accommodations are required, please contact DRS and submit a request for the quarter. If the accessible furniture is missing from a classroom, contact our office and we will work with DRS to replace the furniture as soon as possible.
You may use lobby and hallway seating and empty classrooms for studying on a first-come, first-serve basis.
If you are a Registered Student Organization wanting to table in the Health Science Center, Health Sciences Education Building, or South Campus Center, you may fill out our RSO Tabling Form.
Any non-RSO requestors wishing to table must use the general request process through Academic Technologies, Event Services.
Please visit Academic Technologies Event Services’ RSO Meeting Request Guide to learn about how to submit room requests for your RSO events.
